Registration of Political Parties
The registration of political parties in Malawi is governed by the Political Parties Act, 2018. A political party seeking registration must demonstrate broad national representation and comply with legal and regulatory requirements

Formation of the Party
At least 100 eligible members from each of Malawi’s administrative districts must form the party. At least one hundred persons in each of the districts of Malawi must endorse in writing (by completing a form) the formation of a party These 100 persons must be those who are eligible to vote and should be resident in their respective districts The District Commissioners of the districts must verify that these people are eligible to vote and that they are resident in the respective districts.

Preparation of Required Documents
Two certified copies of the party’s constitution, rules, and manifesto. Details of the party’s head office and contact address. List of office bearers (minimum: President, Secretary General, Treasurer General). List of at least 100 verified party members per district. A graphic representation of the party symbol in the prescribed format.

Submission of Application
Complete the official Form PPA 1. Pay a non-refundable registration fee of K1,000,000. Submit documents to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties in person or by courier.

Verification and Review
The Registrar reviews documents for completeness and compliance and furthermore creates additional clarifications may be requested during the review process.

Issuance of Certificate
if approved, a Certificate of Registration is issued,The party becomes a legal entity with rights to operate and contest elections.In additions Registration certificate must be visibly displayed at the party's office.
